The birth background of pearlite paper
鉴于近半世纪以来，人类文明不断快速进步，对环境资源竭尽地使用，造成环境的改变、破坏而逐渐影响人类的生活。目前发现惟有广植树木才能减缓环境破坏的作用，但是由于人类文明需要的天然纸，工业的发达需要的纸箱及栈板等等，均以树材当做原料，如果不设法取代天然纸，虽然执行广植树木，相信树木会不增加反而减少，想以广植树木来减缓环境破坏的目标是达不到的。

南亚公司有鉴于此，自1991年即着手研发，经七年的时间耗费数千万美元，终于在1998年5月正式推出。以PP为主要原料的合成纸，比一般合成纸比重低、刚性佳、遮蔽性良好，最有可能取代天然纸的合成纸，并注册商品名为“珠光纸”。合成纸通常指非纤维纸张,塑料基纸张，除了主要成分（聚丙烯或聚烯烃）以外，合成纸中还可能包括无机物和硅或石灰。

The synthetic paper with PP as the main material is low in proportion, better in rigidity and better in masking than the general synthetic paper. It is most likely to replace the synthetic paper of natural paper, and the registered commodity is called "pearlite paper". Synthetic paper usually refers to non fiber paper and plastic paper. Besides the main components (polypropylene or polyolefin), synthetic paper may also include inorganic materials and silicon or lime.
