由于云母和二氧化钛（或其它金属氧化物）组成的薄片结构表面光滑，且在造纸过程中纸面要求比较光（这样珠光效果才能更好地穿过涂层进入人眼），致使珠光纸比普通白板纸的表面能要小得多，在印刷时油墨不易附着吸收、不容易干燥。
Pearlescent paper has a much smaller surface energy than ordinary whiteboard paper and is not easily absorbed by ink during printing because of the smooth surface of the thin sheet made up of mica and titanium dioxide (or other metal oxides) and the requirement for light on the paper surface during papermaking (so that the pearlescent effect can pass through the coating better into the human eye). It is not easy to dry.
⑵ 表面珠光效果易被破坏。
Surface pearlescent effect is easy to be destroyed.
相对而言，珠光纸成本较高
Relatively speaking, pearlescent paper costs higher.
