现在国际上较多采用视白度来纸张的洁白程度
对于印刷来说，纸张的白度直接影响着产品的成色效果。因此，纸张的白度是纸张性质中备受重视的参数之一。所谓白度，顾名思义就是纸张的洁白程度。它是对在全波长范围内光波的反射能力的表现。目前我国较多采用通过测量纸张的白度（brightness，又称亮度）的方式来反映纸张的洁白程度。白度仅用纸张的对光波的反射值来衡量，并没有考虑眼睛的视觉特性，因为目测的白度是纯度和真正白度的生理结合。由于纸张中填料，染料的加入，白度已不能准确反映视觉接受的白度。
